Welcome to La Boutique-Librairie du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal!
Sam Borenstein (1908-1969), of Lithuanian origin, emigrated to Montreal with members of his family in 1921. Having largely taught himself, he approached painting with a distinctly modernist sensibility. He became known as a painter of the streets of Montreal, and later of the Laurentian landscapes, which he translated with an impetuosity of form and a liveliness of color that made him unique on the Canadian scene
